Upcoming Sermon 3/21/10

If … Then

Our life is driven by “if … then” statements.  Growing us as students we realized that if we wanted a good grade, then we had better study.  We are constantly realizing that if we want to keep our job, then we had better work hard.  After stepping on the scale, we can say that if we want to lose some weight, then we had better eat less and exercise more.

This Sunday we are going to examine the most important “if … then” statement in the history of the world.  I trust that you will join me in the exam as we continue to discuss the Pillars of the Faith.

Upcoming Sermon 3/14/10

We are beginning another pillar this Sunday in the Pillars of Faith. Our new subject is God! This week I will teach from a verse that only has ten words; it is a verse that you may know quite well. However, I think God has given me some insights into this verse about God that you may have never noticed.

I am excited about the message and believe you will have something to
take home which will be beneficial in your Christian walk. If you couple this with your personal Bible study, I think you will begin to experience a newer relationship with God.

Our Christian walk should always be about
Life Change. Don’t miss this week; it is hard to imagine anything that would be more important than to worship with us and be encouraged by this message.

Answered Questions from 2-28-2010

Here are the answers to questions asked this previous Sunday (February 28th, 2010).  If you have any followup questions, please comment with the Question # and it will be forwarded to the person who answered the question.

#1 Can I get the green sermon sheets if I missed a week?
Yes, we will have copies available at the resource table the coming Sunday

# 2 What is the process of Bible translation?
There was a sheet on the resource table Sunday explaining that process. It will continue to be available on the resource table.

# 3 How come the harder I try it always goes bad?
There really is no satisfying answer. But I would encourage you to NOT give up for God will honor persistence. See Galatians 6:9

# 4 Can you tell us which books to read that go with what you are teaching?
I would suggest that you go to Corner stone Book Store and ask those people for available materials relating to this subject. I do not have any in mind right now except the Bible.

Note from the Pastor about the Upcoming Sermon

Most people would like to eat chocolate cake and lose weight. Many people would like to watch TV and become better Christians. These are both unrealistic thoughts. We would like to have something for nothing.  But if you want to be what you think God would like you to be, it’s going to require some effort. (Did I lose you with that statement?)

Jesus made a statement that separated the “wannabes” from the serious followers in Luke 9:23, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Denying yourself is one of the most difficult tasks we’ll ever face.
If you want to be better in your Christian walk, be in church this Sunday. I’ll give you something that may make it easier than you ever thought it could be.
